Apart from the standard potassium chromate digestion procedure, several other procedures have been used for the determination of the chemical oxygen demand of natural waters including continuous flow injection analysis [1], combustion-infrared spectroscopy [2], titration with nitrate [3, 4], spectrophotometry [5] and potentiometric titration [6].
