ABSTRACT

This chapter is concerned with the practical side of reaching agreement on and then managing a licence or a joint venture. It assumes that, after the preliminary survey of technology and parties, one in the course of which all your technology requirements as a potential licensee, or your requirements as a potential licensor, have been defined, a potential match has been found. The search for a licensing or a joint venture match, or rather a group of potential matches, is dealt with in a later chapter when we turn to examining the UK sources of information about technology and design for licensing in and the sources of information about technology, design and commercial opportunities. Once a short list has been accumulated an assessment programme must be conducted in respect of each of the entries.
