ABSTRACT
Anyone who’s ever gone to school, at least in the United States, has surely received a great many report cards. Today’s student report cards are substantially different from the ones I received when I attended Sunnyside Grade School and Washington High School in the Portland, Oregon, public schools. Back then, it was pretty clear that an F stood for failing performance and an A represented exceptional work. But that was a simpler time.
