ABSTRACT
Sahel: the region of Central West Africa lying between approximately 10°N and 20°N. It includes the countries of Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad. The Sahel is mostly desert margin and has suffered from a num ber of prolonged droughts in recent years.
