ABSTRACT
The function performed by newspapers has changed little over the centuries. Their task is to report news events as well as to inform readers about products and services available to themthat is, to advertise. These tasks continue to make newspapers an important element in society. From the daily newspapers published in Europe’s major cities to the weekly newspaper distributed in small towns across North America, newspapers play a major role in people’s lives.
