Soap has evolved through the centuries from homemade allpurpose bars used for bathing, laundry, and house cleaning to today’s myriad of specialized choices, including liquid soap, soap for different skin types, and moisturizing soap. Soap makers are among the oldest American manufacturers, the first to advertise, and some of the biggest corporate names in the United States and Europe.
