ABSTRACT

Founded as house agency for London, England, soap maker Lever Brothers, 1899; became independent in 1930 after a merger creating Unilever, though still owned by Unilever; entered U.S. market in 1962 through partnership with Sullivan, Stauffer, Colwell & Bayles, Inc., which acquired a 49 percent stake in Lintas in 1970; became part of the Interpublic Group of Companies, 1979; merged with Campbell-Ewald to become Lintas: Worldwide, 1987; merged with Ammirati & Puris to become Ammirati Puris/ Lintas, 1994; merged with the Lowe Group of Interpublic to become Lowe Lintas & Partners Worldwide, 1999.
