ABSTRACT
W.Edward Jenkins, who was known as “Blue” by his many friends and colleagues, was born on November 24, 1923, in Wake County, North Carolina, to Willie and Emmaline Jenkins. His father died when he was still a toddler. His mother was a seamstress.
