ABSTRACT

Henry L.Livas was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on April 20, 1912. In 1916 his father, Harry Thomas Livas, moved his young family to Springfield, Ohio, where Henry attended Woodward Elementary from 1916 to 1922. Harry Livas’s trade was tailoring, and he owned a dry cleaners. Henry’s mother, Mary Strong Livas, died the same year he entered second grade. His father remarried to Hattie Shivers, his piano teacher.1 The family then moved to Paris, Kentucky, where Henry attended Western Junior-High School starting in 1923 and graduated in 1929.
