ABSTRACT
The increasing growth of the Latino population and its strong ties to Latin America are leading many to assess the potential impact this group may have in shaping the international priorities of the United States. This brief is part of a series of reports by the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute (TRPI) examining the impact Latinos have in shaping U.S.-Latin American relations. Our findings reveal that, while Latinos are not systematically attempting to influence the nation’s foreign policy at the present time, the increased convergence of domestic and foreign policy concerns suggests that Latinos are likely to play an increasingly greater role in shaping the nation’s international agenda.
