ABSTRACT

Fidel Castro has AIDS. No, wait a minute, it’s cancer. Or a heart attack-at least those were some of the rumors that whipped through Miami’s Cuban exile community. For years, Castro’s opponents promoted such wishful thinking-believing that only an act of God would rid them of the tyrant. No longer. Moscow has severed Cuba’s economic lifeline. Agricultural communes use oxen to plow fields. Cigars are rationed. And Castro’s days look numbered.
