ABSTRACT

THE classical approach was the first to develop. It is associated with the writings of Fayol (1916) in France, Taylor (1911), Mooney and Reilly (1932) in America, Urwick (1928, 1943) in Britain, and, more recently, with the writings of Brech (1957) in Britain and Allen (1958) in America. These writers have contributed most to the approach. All have been managers or management consultants.
