Think back to your life before the relationship. If you had other abusive relationships before the last one, try to think back to how you were before the first one. Try to remember how you felt about yourself. Did you believe that you deserved respect? Did you assume that you would find someone who would love you and treat you as well as you treated him? Did you think that you were intelligent, attractive, sensitive, and caring? Were you able to love someone else fully? Did you believe in your talents and skills? Did you see yourself as a worthy person?
