ABSTRACT

This adverb can be added to verbs that talk about food, drink or any activity in which the subject or the object of the enunciation is involved. It can appear in the comparative form liever or the superlative form het liefst to express a degree of preference. Examples:

Erik speelt graag voetbal, maar hij gaat liever tennissen en hij zwemt het liefst. Erik likes to play soccer, but he prefers to play tennis and he most likes to swim.
