ABSTRACT

ANUMBER OF DEMOGRAPHIC groups are reported to be affected by labor market discrimination: women, ethnic and national minorities, disabled workers, as well as religious and sexual minorities have been observed to face unfavorable labor market outcomes. Most studies on discrimination focus on earnings differentials by race or gender since corresponding data is more readily available. Nevertheless, not only do these groups represent merely a fraction of the possibly discriminated population, but discrimination can also take on different forms, i.e. can also occur in hiring, promotion and firing.
