ABSTRACT
Provision of outdoor recreation is not without costs. It may often appear to be free because no direct charge is levied upon users. This means simply that someone else has borne the costs. In this chapter, we consider some of the analytical problems involved in pricing and paying for outdoor recreation, and in Chapter 16 we discuss the policy issues.
