ABSTRACT

This book is written for the planner who wants to mobilize the region and its localities to engage the new development opportunities of the global knowledge economy and network society. The term “planner” is used broadly, capturing the ideas and work of the professional planner, the citizen or volunteer planner, and those with a commitment to the health and well-being of people and places. Ideally, the planner for whom this book is targeted is one who is willing and able to practice planning and invent the new practices that are required to engage successfully the development potential of the new economy and new society.
