ABSTRACT

Green buildings in Denmark vary widely with regard to all aspects of physical and social solutions as well as ideological rationales. Sometimes this has led to controversies among different actors in respect of the definitions and content of green buildings. We present these different rationales and describe how each in its own way has contributed to a general development of green buildings. We argue that a common definition of green buildings is not necessarily needed and that many different approaches to such buildings might be more useful than one.
