ABSTRACT
At the end of Chapter 1, mention was made of the wide range of gem testing equipment now available to the gemmologist/jeweller, and some of this has already been described and illustrated in earlier chapters. Despite the sophistication of much of this equipment, perhaps the most useful and frequently used of all these items is the hand lens, or loupe as it is often called.
