ABSTRACT

Given all the effort devoted to planning, scheduling, and budgeting in the defi nition phase, one might think that the resulting project plan will have accounted for everything to be done and every conceivable situation and problem. But no plan is ever complete or perfect, and, besides, rarely do things go entirely as planned. Keeping the project moving forward and on target, tracking progress, and overcoming obstacles is the purpose of project control, the other topic of the chapter.
