ABSTRACT

Dot-com disasters continue all around us. Clicks and mortar companies generally outperform pureplay Internet companies. Why didn’t these new e-businesses survive? Where did they go wrong? The answer is that they weren’t e-businesses. They weren’t even businesses since many were ignorant of business essentials such as the need to integrate front-office systems with back-office systems, keeping close to customers, delivering real added value, etc. This chapter clarifies what is meant by e-business; a much-abused concept.
