ABSTRACT

ADDLED PARLIAMENT, 1614 The parliament of 1614, which had been called by James I to grant financial aid, was dissolved after just two months before it had passed any measure. The frustration of the king’s attempts to secure the return of a favourable House of Commons, through the interference of his ‘undertakers’ in the elections, ensured a hostile attack on his policies led by Wentworth, Eliot, Pym and others.
