ABSTRACT

In this chapter, innovation management in high-tech innovative firms is seen as being closely linked to uncertainty and networking is one of the means for gaining access to resources and for creating legitimacy for and for organizing for innovation. Networking is a new understanding of management and economy in which uncertainty and turbulence are the norms rather than the exception. Network management in an entrepreneurial turbulent environment is seen as a ‘negotiated management’ process, more than an established position in which power is exercized. The cases cited in this chapter are built on interviews in small Danish ICT and biotech firms, and ICT firms in Sophia Antipolis in France.
