ABSTRACT

A scene opens: You see sand, sun, and the surf of a tropical island. You watch the surf at play until you see a small dot. You follow the dot and realize it is a lone surfer on a board, running for the crest of the waves. You can’t believe your eyes, but as you look closer, you see that the waves have names on them, labels of different aspects of thought: doubt, fear, contentment, joy. The surfer waits to catch a wave, a wave called optimism.
