ABSTRACT

So far we have discussed the organization without the people who will bring it to life, make it work, and give it its distinctive character. Now we need to look at how people may influence the formal structure, as well as how the latter may affect people's behaviour by the demands it makes on them and the strains it imposes. First, let us look at an organization as seen through the eyes of a newly recruited manager and then more broadly at the social relations within an organization.
