The enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR) in the Philippines is a matter of great importance to trademark and copyright owners as well as the to consuming public. Counterfeiting in the Philippines is widespread and involves virtually every product from water-based typewriter correction fluid to computer software, pharmaceuticals and aircraft parts. Thus, when purchasing products in the Philippines one needs to be aware of the proliferation of counterfeits and mindful of the possible consequences of using a counterfeit product.
