ABSTRACT

A review of the evolution of humanity, from the stone age to the present, reveals periods during which different aspects of our being—physical, social, intellectual and spiritual—take precedence. We are not what we were, nor what we can become. Anthropologists, sociologists and psychologists have studied specific facets of human development, but a unified understanding has been lacking. Spiritual evolution, which deals with the development of consciousness, has received much less attention. Yet it has the unique capacity to clarify all other areas of study, not the least of which is economics and its offspring, commerce.
