ABSTRACT

The standard human way of organizing work for others is for a senior to decide what work needs to be done, to establish how it should be done and then to get someone to do it. The whole process can operate with commendable efficiency under conditions of stability. But once conditions change, the system is liable to be thrown into disarray.
