ABSTRACT

Every TV news director I work with says the same thing: “Our best people come from radio.” That’s because radio people know how to communicate, tell stories, and spontaneously improvise.

Smart broadcasters use TV for what it does best, presenting pictures to show events as they happen. Radio is great training if you want to make the move to television. Many broadcasters have found they enjoy doing both, and a lot of TV people look back wistfully, remembering their days in radio as their happiest, when they did their best work.
