ABSTRACT
This set of activities is all about explicit teaching of the sub-skills of reading comprehension. The exercises are not intended to be simple reading comprehension activities. Rather, they should be viewed as opportunities for the teacher and pupils to talk and learn about:
how to set about the task of reading with understanding;
how to demonstrate this understanding when responding to questions.
