ABSTRACT

Creating an end-to-end DRM system requires making choices from the available technologies at every step and then assembling them into an array of security and rights management systems. End-to-end products are simply systems that have been pre-assembled, packaged, and marketed by an organizational entity. In this chapter, we will consider some of these systems and how they have been put together, including the Digital Cinema DRM, SMPTE DRM and broadcast flag, DVD DRM for the current generation of devices and AACS for next-generation devices, Windows DRM, the Intertrust system, the Protected Entertainment Rights Management (PERM), and Creative Commons.
