ABSTRACT

This chapter will address the main reason why many motion graphics artists will be interested in this book—3D type. After Effects’ type animation engine is among the most sophisticated tools there are for type and type animation. In this chapter we’ll explore its recently added 2.5D capabilities, but we’ll also get into creating true 3D type using Photoshop’s Repousse extrusion tool. We’ll also look at 3D type with the Zaxwerks 3D Invigorator plug-in and Cinema 4D. So first let’s look at the new features of 2.5D type animation in After Effects.
