ABSTRACT

After Effects was not born with 3D capabilities. However, with version 5 in 2001, the 3D layer switch was introduced. The 3D layer switch enables a flat layer to be turned in 3D space. It also makes it possible for camera and light layers to be used. It is not true 3D; it has become known as 2.5D, and although it doesn’t sound that powerful, it is actually quite powerful. Many artists can resolve a large number of 3D concerns by essentially faking the process with 2.5D.
