ABSTRACT

Introduction While video production budgets for sales support seem to be

easier to justify than those for training, video has proven itself through the years to be a cost-effective and motivating medium for employee education. Rather than hiring a consultant to speak to staff in a classroom, that same consultant’s message can be delivered to each employee’s desktop display or mobile device in a consistent manner and as frequently as needed. On-the-job training, whether it is learning industrial techniques, developing supervisory skills, or showing a customer how to use software, gets a boost from motion, color, and sound. Learners may view the materials at their own pace, and interactivity can be built into the video programs so the viewers get regular feedback and management has an evaluation mechanism.
