ABSTRACT
Script Integration is found on Media Composers and all the Xpress family. I believe it is the most dynamic and exciting feature on any NLE system in the world. Yet, despite its strong points, Script Integration is perhaps the least used of all Avid’s features. Why? First, you have to have a script. For many films and videos, from experimental to verite, there’s no script so there’s no script to integrate. Even those filmmakers who do work from a script often think Script Integration is just too much work. You can’t just open a bin and start editing. You must import the script, drag all your clips to it, and mark individual lines of dialog or action. At first glance, it seems like a waste of good editing time; however, the time spent on the front end is more than made up on the back end. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it.
