Alex Gibney Filmmaker Alex Gibney founded Jigsaw Productions in 1982, and in the years since has produced films with partners including Participant Productions, Magnolia Films, Sony Pictures Classics, ZDF-ARTE, BBC, and PBS. The company’s website notes that Gibney is “well known for crafting stories that take an unflinching look at the political landscape of America.” His recent films include Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson; Taxi to the Dark Side, the 2008 Academy Award winner for Best Documentary Feature; and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, nominated for the 2006 Academy Award. For both Enron and Gonzo, Gibney won the Writers Guild of America award for Best Documentary Screenplay.
