First let’s talk about a Condor. This is a company name that has come to be synonymous with the name of the device it manufactures. Condors are also called cherry pickers or high lifts, among other names. A cherry picker or Condor usually has two-wheel drive unless you ask for four-wheel drive. It is white or brightly colored and bears the name of the rental company, which would be fantastic if we were shooting a spot for that company. I usually request a cherry picker with an arm painted fl at black, which reduces refl ection problems. If you do not remember to order an arm that is painted black and a problem arises, you can always use a long piece of duvatyne cloth. This was a common way to black out an arm before
manufacturers began painting the arms black. My advice is always to order a black arm. Sometimes day shoots end up as night shoots, and a lift with a black arm almost disappears at night.
