ABSTRACT
It depends on what segments of the movement you're looking at. I think the image of the lesbian and gay movement that predominates is one that is the glitziest, and the most media driven, and the most affiuent, and the whitest, and the most male. So it depends on who you're asking about. If you're asking about the people who hobnob in Washington, that's one part of the movement, and it's the one that gets the most coverage. I have always been much more involved in the Left, progressive parts of our movement, and centrally involved in the organizing oflesbians and gays of color. So, if the question was, what's going on with lesbians and gay men of color, it's a very different answer than what's going on in the movement as a whole.
