ABSTRACT

There are continual developments in the design and format of video and audio recording systems. Some are mainly used for acquisition (shooting original material); others are used for postproduction editing and archiving (storage) work. Video recordings can be done on videotape, hard drive, or a flash memory card. In fact, some of the newest cameras can record on hard disk, and standard definition (SD)—all in one camera. Traditionally, videotape has been the most popular medium. However, with the advent of higher-quality and less-expensive flash memory, most video today is being shot on digital memory. Professionals are also rapidly moving away from tape and into the digital media world as well.
