The first deletion, on page 8b of the insert (Figure 11), gets Amy directly to the point, which is consistent with her character and with her attitude toward Dove.

Amy's line in (2) is pure exposition, but its nature is camouflaged to some extent by using the information as a basis for making the scene one of conflict.
