ABSTRACT

In most cases, when you first join the camera department, you will be starting as a Second Assistant Cameraman (2nd AC) or Loader. In Britain, Europe, and Australia, the 2nd AC is most often referred to as the Clapper/Loader. The Film Loader is primarily responsible for loading and unloading film into the magazines and filling in all of the paperwork relating to the film stock shot during the production, and they rarely leave the camera truck or loading area. On some occasions, the Loader may work alongside the 2nd AC on the set to gain further experience. The current union entry-level film position is that of the Film Loader.
