Showing (Visual Writing) When expressing ideas in visual form, the writer does not concentrate so much on telling as on showing. Although the words remain important, aside from narration or dialogue, much of their importance is technical rather than artistic. Granted, they must communicate to the producer, director, and the client, but they will not be the final communication elements that spark a reader’s imagination. Instead, the words in a script are simply a means to an end. They describe a series of sounds and motion pictures that will ultimately communicate the message, not to a reader, but to a viewer.
