While often referred to interchangeably, digital television (DTV) and high de“nition television (HDTV) are not one in the same. Digital television refers to the method of transmission of a television signal. High De“nition television describes the resolution, or picture quality, of the program being transmitted. And, while high de“nition television is broadcast digitally, digital television need not be high de“nition.
