ABSTRACT

Logistics in the context of newsgathering – and this particularly applies to SNG – can be defined as the science of moving equipment and personnel from A to B in the quickest time at the lowest cost. It is probably the key strategy for success in newsgathering, as there is no merit in having highly skilled staff with the very latest technology if they are not where the story is. Yet the challenge of moving often quite large volumes of equipment even to relatively accessible areas of the world in the shortest time can frustrate even the most experienced newsgatherers.
