ABSTRACT

As the final stage of the media production process, postproduction affords you the

last opportunity to reach the goal you originally set as proposed for the client. Regard-

less of the saying, “Fix it in post,” you cannot correct all errors in judgment, miscal-

culations, and poor production techniques in postproduction. If the material is not

available or is technically deficient, you may not have any means of replacing it or

rectifying the problems created in preproduction or production. You cannot bring out

of focus shots into focus, reframe poor or incorrectly reframed shots (except by using

expensive and advanced digital applications), or rezoom a poorly zoomed shot at the

correct rate. You may partially correct poor lighting, but at a cost in time and energy

diverted from the important work of the edit. If you forgot a shot, then you can only

replace it by returning to the location and reshooting.
