ABSTRACT

Just a few years ago, scanning fi lm was an exotic and expensive thing to do, so it was not done very much. Because it was slow and expensive, only the biggest budgets could afford it. Today, thanks to both the increase in speed of fi lm scanners and the explosive rise in the Digital Intermediate process, scanning fi lm has become fast, cheap, and common. As a result, the number of folks working with scanned fi lm frames has skyrocketed. If you are working with scanned fi lm frames, this raises the age-old question – log or linear?
