SUPPORTING REALITY When Foley is performed to replace footsteps, it is assumed that it is going to be played with production. Thus, the footsteps must be performed with the intent of “fitting in” with the dialogue as it is already recorded. This entails watching the sync very carefully and playing the recorded Foley back with production on the stage to ensure that it does indeed enhance and not detract.
