ABSTRACT

This chapter examines some video and cut it up. Final Cut Express has several different ways people can work with their video. The same function can be performed in many ways, so users can find the workflow with which they’re the most comfortable. Every time people import a clip or capture a clip or bring a new clip into the Browser, the first instance of that clip is always a master clip. A master clip can be cut up into smaller clips called affiliate clips. All subclips are master clips, and though people can rename their subclips anything they want, be aware that the underlying media that remains on their hard drive is unchanged. Most important, its name is not changed. Once people have their material diced up, they should spend some time putting it away so they can find it again. There are no firm rules about this, and each project tends to dictate its own organizational structure.
