ABSTRACT

Until recently, our stories originated invariably on videotape and we felt a comfort in the tangible nature of the medium. We knew tape well, even with all its foibles, and had a mature relationship with it, like a 30-year marriage. At the end of the day, we might gripe and snipe at our long-time partner, but then it’s off to bed after supper and television – and all is well with the world. The familiarity was somehow reassuring.
