ABSTRACT

This chapter gives an overview of how After Effects can be used with other programs in various environments. It discusses issues pertaining to web and non-linear editing integration, as well as authoring for DVDs and mobile devices. During export, each After Effects layer is usually rendered to its own FLV movie or PNG sequence which is then used by Flash. The new suggested workflow is to render a QuickTime movie from After Effects, import it into Photoshop Extended, and export to animated GIF using Save For Web & Devices. After Effects now has the ability to export an After Effects composition as an XFL format project, which can then be opened by Adobe Flash Professional CS4 or later. Dynamic Link allows the user to skip the wait-while-rendering step. Instead, the user can link an After Effects composition into Adobe Premiere Pro or Encore in its unrendered state and use it as a footage item.
